Just to keep it interesting, I've done a couple of abstract paintings.
The first is an idea that's been floating around in my head for a while, and I had a piece of dark red pastel paper lying around (an offcut from the second Tararua sunrise painting), so I thought I'd have a go at it. On the whole I'm quite pleased with the result.
The painting uses Winsor Red and Winsor Orange, hence the name given that Winsor and Newton no longer make pastels.

The second painting is once again an idea that was floating around, this time based on the Hoi An boat painting "The Eyes Have It". The colours in the top section are similar to the boat colours, and the bottom section follows the form of a boat.
The next painting is another in my Tararua Sunrise series. The painting uses a limited palette of French Ultramarine, Green Ochre and Charcoal Grey. Will post here shortly.
I've submitted two paintings - "The Eyes Have It" and "Napier Headland" for the Peters Doig Art Awards in Blenheim. The submission is by photographs of the paintings from which the jury decides which can be entered. This is very good as it saves the cost of sending the paintings themselves unless they are selected to be shown.
